Scary Movies

"Whatever You Do, Don't Fall Asleep"

Tyler wants to see The Dark Knight. I have heard that it should have been rated R instead of PG-13 for the violence. Therefore, I won't take him to see it.

I was talking with a co-worker yesterday about scary movies. Wondering what Tyler would think of as a scary movie these days. Scary is not my cup of tea, therefore it's not Ty's either since he's my movie date when we go to the theatre. Poor guy, he's taken a liking to chic flicks! ; ) We did "rent" 1408 from his grandparents. Grandma told him it was scary and that he needed to watch it during the day. Since it was "scary" I had no desire to watch it. But I did anyway, afterwards - all 3 of us were scratching our heads thinking, "Where was the scary part?"

Remembering scary movies I watched growing up, the farthest one I could think of was American Werewolf In London. Sherry and I were in her parents KING sized bed that felt like it was 500 yards long. (I had never been in such a big bed!) We cozied next to her dad whose was watching it. There laid Richard, Sherry and myself. I don't remember a whole lot of the movie - Sherry's face was in Richard's back and my face was buried in Sherry's back. But, we "watched" it. Then I had to walk home afterwards!!! My house was on the whole other side of the street!!! I always made Sherry & Stacy's mom, Mary, watch me run home. In between the houses was always a frightening pitch black! I knew someone was lurching in there and one night would jump out and get me!

Another one I remember was watching one of the Halloween movies at the Holiday's house. I remember I had to call home to make sure it was OK that I watched it. If memory serves me right, it was my mom I talked to and had to convince her - It wont scare me! (Halloween is about trick or treating!) Um ya, didn't like it and had to walk home alone after the movie. They lived 2 houses down from us on the same side of the street. There again, I was scared to walk between the houses!!!

Years past and nothing changed. I was terrified of Nightmare on Elm Street - so bad, I wouldn't take bathes for the longest time and would stand an additional foot away from the drain!!!

I can't like being scared. Movies, haunted houses, etc. It aint for me. My sister is the complete opposite. The scarier the better. Her and our dad would stay up late on Saturday nights to watch Creature Features hosted by Crematia Mortem. Linds even belonged to her fan club!!! And then the was good ol' Elvira, she even watched her too. I didn't like her hair, I thought spiders and rats lived in there. I always waited for her boobs to pop out. I never understood how they stayed in there??? I saw a recent picture of her - still looks the same! But now I know how her boobs stay in! ; )

Have a good weekend! Peace.

Honestly, I am not a huge horror movie fan either. I mean I like scary movies, but the B grade ones, like Saw/Halloween, they don't really interest me. I know Saw might not be considered B-grade, but the 'Gore' movies just don't get me interested. It's not that I get scared, I just like a little more plot, and the cliche's kill me, like always falling down when running away, or going off alone.

I don't like scary movies either but they are Sean's favorite so I have seen a few. Just not my cup of tea. However, I hear a new Nightmare on Elm Street is going to be coming out and that Billy Bob Thorton is going to be Freddie. I like Billy Bob so I will want to see that. I will be sure to bring my blanket with me so that I can cover my face!!!
