Drugs are not always necessary. Belief in recovery always is. ~Norman Cousins
So I walk in this morning in a somewhat good mood - I have coffee in hand, no headache (yet), and a descent night sleep. The red light on my phone is lit to indicate I have a message waiting. I check it and it's my doctor's office with my lab results.
I call a little after 8am to find my levels of cholesterol are not exactly to ideal. Duh. Let me back up, they have always been high, it’s no secret – take a look at me, I’m not exactly the walk of health. But I have proactively been losing weight. That exercise is still not were it needs to be and I have cut way back on eating, maybe I … – NO - I know I need to be making better choices of what I consume. Anyway, that's another soap box speech.
My point here is that my doc was quick to prescribe a drug to help reduce my numbers. STOP THE TRUCK! My head was spinning with all the numbers and orders given to me that I failed to ask questions back. Such as, "Can't I try to control this with diet and exercise first?" I am not about to take a pill for something I know I can control. I'm the kind of person who hesitates to question authority. She's the doc and she knows best, right? But I am determined NOT to take this pill and control it 'all my by myself'! So I guess I should call her back and let her know my plans huh? It just really put a damper on my day.
And by the way, while they are high they're not that high.
251 Total (200 or below is normal)
49 HDL or good cholesterol (45 or above)
152 LDL or bad cholesterol (100 or below)
248 triglycerides (149 or below)
and my blood sugar level was at 92 or normal
I think doc is quick to prescribe something, and that ok when it's oh say something like Vicodin or Darvocet. :)
All kidding aside, thanks for the wake up call doc but I won't be needing anything else!
One other sideline comment.
- Paul Blart was actually not that bad. All the boys liked it real well. We got there about 25 mins to show time and the theatre was already a little packed (remember from previous postings - I like my back row). And as time went on I was glad to see we got there when we did as people were having trouble finding seats at 10 mins till movie time. This one lady comes up and ask if the seat next to me is taken (uh yes, for all the coats I'm carting.) and told her no and moved the coats to my lap. (no biggie, really) THEN she asked the people next to me if they can scoot down (basically putting them in the back corner of the theatre) so that she and her son can share popcorn.... KUDOS to the man as he said, "I do mind because we were here first, but I will." He said it a couple of times to make sure she heard it. She wasn't a claim to health either so it was a tight fit and she wasn't comfortable because she kept moving and re-situating herself. Then she spots two seats a couple rows down for her and her son to move into. She then turns to me and says, "here - you can have your seats back!" What did I do to get that kind of treatment!?! In the back of my mind, I was thinking I maybe on one of those shows "What Would You Do?" ABC News does so I was on my best behavior!
This is why I'm always on the fence - I can see both sides of it 1. Yes, I like my space so I wouldn't mind moving my coats. 2. I think its ballsy for someone to ask to move down, but in the end I would do it. 3. Yes, I got there early enough to pick my seat so I shouldn't have to move but I would feel guilty not moving.
Peace.

That is my biggest pet peeve about going to the movies. We always arrive early and it chaps my hide when those that come in a couple minutes before the movie starts and wants you to move or they are walking in front of the screen to get to a seat. The planners always have to pay the price for the non-planners.
Glad to hear the movie was good. We are going to go see it this weekend.
Did you hear about the new Renee Zellweger and Harry Conick movie, New in Town? Or the Drew, Jen and Ben movie, He's Not That Into You? We need to do a girls night!
