My sister (all excited) sends me an e-mail and says "Look what I'm getting!!!! :)" I open the picture and this is what I see... Why the hell does that dog have bat ears? So jokingly I write her back and ask what the hell is it? I don't wait for a response and in turn called my mom, "Have you seen what Lindsay is getting?" She hadn't seen the picture yet so I describe it to her. "Very small... looks like you can hold it in your hand... looks about 3 days old (actually its 12 days)... very black with BAT ears" I went so far as to telling her it was a sonogram! (But I won't mention that my mom said, is it really?!) LOVE YOU MOM!
We're all 3 on the phone chatting away about her new found love. She ask for suggestions of names and wants them to be "unique but cute". I suggested Buffy as in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" - Hell the dog has bat ears! Or how's Batgirl? Needless to say - she wasn't diggin the names.
Later I get an e-mail; she's named her. *Piper*
I had to write back and give my poor sissy grief...
What, shaniquajamal wasn’t cute enough?
Piper, like the insides of a smoke pipe®
So is it spoken like P-eye-per or pip (pippy longstockings w/o the ___py longstockings?)er
I like Lindsay’s Black Olive better – call her buffy for short.
(Lindsay was named after Lindsey's Olives so I thought that was quite fitting too) Oh we laughed! er - maybe this is one of those moments were you had to be there. So anyway, Linds gets her bat dog - I mean - Piper on June 9th. By the way - the dog is a mix of Chihuahua and Pug.
(I'm still calling her Buffy!) ; )
