I left early Friday due to a terrible, horrible, very bad, no good headache. It was still dull come Saturday morning till I took more drugs to knock it.
Ty's orienteering outing went longer than expected. Brian also went along with the group and found it very interesting. I on the other hand stayed behind in the truck to read The Lucky One and catch a quick snooze which did me good. They were supposed to be done by 12:30p but it was closer to 2p before we got out of there. So no time for extra events and had to move right along to the bball game.
Which was horrible. At half they were ahead by 9. It went into double overtime and they lost by one. If only our boys would slow down and take control.
After the game we headed home. I sent Brian out on his bike and Ty to play with friends while I worked on the laundry and ran to the grocery store for a few extra items.
Sunday was church then a quick trip to Target to get home in time to work on laundry before mom and Steve came for haircuts. After I was done spinning heads, mom and I took Tyler over to his friend's house for his birthday/Super Bowl party. I was jealous as we were due over at Jeff's (Bri's bro) at 6:30p for Dylan's 17th b-day. What red blooded American schedules a birthday party right in the middle of the Super Bowl?? We did get to see some of the commercials and the good plays. But it would have been nice to have been able to watch the entire thing. Oh well.
Today I did Meals On Wheels for the first time ever. I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was another 'feel good' opportunity and I know the recipients sure appreciate it. I've hooked up with a friend from Embarq whose done it for years. We're scheduled to go once a month. We first had to go to the community center to check in and pick up our route information and the coolers, one holds 'hot' and the other 'cold'. We pass out 10 meals (it was McRib today with baked beans, tator tots and a milk), everybody gets one hot and one cold. And you need to watch because some people have a 'diet' marked on the sheet therefore they get a 'diet' cold sack. Once the meal is delivered you have to mark off in pencil NOT pen. Once all are delivered you return to the center to drop off the cooler and turn in the packet so they can be used for the next day. Someone delivers a meal each day to these people. And on Friday's some receipents will get 2 frozen meals for the weekend. I told Lisa too bad they didn't include a bar a soap every once in a while for these poor folks. Made me sad for them. Hopefully my smile brightened their day as their smile did for me.
Peace.
