I feel like dog doo doo

When an illness knocks you on your ass, you should stay down and relax for a while before trying to get back up. ~Candea Core-Starke

I left work yesterday because my sinuses have the better of me. While I enjoy the fall and spring; the allergies kill me!!! Come on hard frost!

Even though I felt horrible, I attended the Piccadilly Auction last night, it supports the vitalization of downtown Lee's Summit. I had already spent the $50 to go - so I doped up on meds and went. It's considered a formal affair; but you don't have to dress up. It is cool to see all the woman who do though! This years theme was Fire & Ice and the attire was black, red & white. I wore a black dress and the most sparkling jewelry I owned hoping it would out shine my undone hideous face. This year it was held a John Knox Village. It's a ladies event and all the volunteers are mainly men aka "Hot Guys". The took us by our arm and escorted us to our seats. Before dinner they had an cash bar, silent auction and appetizers. I wasn't going to pour any more money into this event so I wasn't going to look at the silent auction. HOWEVER, like last year, they had a puppy up for auction. A full bread miniature Beagle. She was only 6 weeks old, so I had to go see and pet her. While there, a women was in the circle around the dog and spoke up and asked us how we like her dog. Apparently she WAS going home with it. She told us she had spent $700 on her boy dog but her husband said don't go that crazy for this one. I asked her, "What's your dogs name?" She didn't know as it took her 3 days to name her boy dog. While talking I suggested 'Piccadilly' - she really liked it. Who knows if she would really use the name and if she got the dog. I'd place bets she did - she wasn't moving too far from the bid sheet.

As for dinner, it was quite generous and catered by Beauchamps (pronounced 'Beach Ums') of downtown LS. A salad of mixed greens & carrots with a vinaigrette dressing. Main course of mahi mahi, brisket, and chicken breast with red skin mashed potatoes and carrots. I only ate the beef and chicken & left everything else. Dessert was cheesecake with a raspberry sauce.

After dinner we started the auction. Which is normally really fun. They have items anywhere from a piece of furniture to a pedicure to 3 hours of house cleaning. A wide array of things. Final prize was a trip for 2 to Mexico. How it works is each bid is normally .25 or .50, there is a pot in the middle of your table and you throw your quarter in and hold up the number assigned to you. They pull a number from the barrel, and if its your number you win AND the number goes back in for a chance to win something else (which happens a lot! ladies winning multiple items). If a number is called and that person didn't bid (we make fun of them) and another number is pulled until there's a winner. 3 ladies won at our table last night! Myself being not one of them. I took 50 dollars in quarters and bid on everything and came home with about $13 bucks. It is a fun evening for about a hundred bucks. I'll be back next year hopefully feeling well and lucky!!!

This weekend is Ty's Boy Scout camp out weekend. I had planned to camp until I came down with this caca. I'll plan on being there the entire time just not sleeping in a tent, which I kinda am going to miss. :( It's the biggest camp out of the year. The cub scouts get together with the boy scouts and all the families go. It's called Show & Do camp out. It's always lots and lots of fun and this year the weather is going to be PERFECT! Then Bri decided he was going on a bike ride with his buddies on Sunday morning. Meeting at the Corner Cafe for breakfast, yum! Then riding to Atchison. I wanna go!!! Another reason not to camp out.

I'm out; time for more drugs.

Peace

I hope you get to feeling better. The auction night sounds like so much fun. When you mentioned the beagle I thought you were going to say you were going to bid on it. You should have posted a picture of you all dressed up!

Have fun this weekend! Praying for no sniffles!
